Welcome to the Home of Masters Bicycle Racing in the Northeast
Northeast Masters Cycling Association (NEMCA) officially turns 1 on January 13, 2012 but our roots go back more than twenty years to the time when Masters Cycle Racing Association (MCRA) was formed. For more than two decades MCRA was the sole advocate for Masters bicycle racing in New England.
In 2010 they were joined by Masters Cycle Racing Breakaway (MCRB) in an effort to bolster the advocacy for master’s bicycle racing in the region.
Late in the year, the two associations agreed to dissolve in order to make way for the Northeast Masters Cycling Association (NEMCA), a non profit corporation that is better structured to serve the masters cycling community.
Our mission is to support master’s bicycle racing in New England. We do not have any pet projects that drain our resources away from that mission. All revenue derived from events, membership fees, donations and grants are used to support masters bicycle racing.
In 2012 NEMCA will sponsor three clinics and seminars designed specifically for Masters on subjects ranging from training in the off-season to advanced bicycle racing skills and tactics.
NEMCA will proudly host once again the Bob Beal Memorial Race Weekend featuring a challenging time trial the first day followed by a day of criterium racing for Masters men and women from 35+ to 75+ in five year age groups.
The 2012 program will again feature NEMCA's Championship Series. The series is for NEMCA male and female members ranging from 35+ to 75+ in five year age groups with additional categories for men Cat 4 & 5 45+ and 55+. The series consists of a mix of approximately fifteen carefully selected road races, criteriums and time trials. The series begins in early April and ends with the Bob Beal Memorial Race Weekend in late August.
If you are a Master between the ages of 35 and 90, come join us. You make up 59% of the competitive cyclists in New England. You deserve your own organization, you deserve to be heard. Join NEMCA today!
